David Schecher, Music Director

The Atlantic Wind Symphony will begin its 40th season as Long Island's only fully professional concert band, with a new Music Director starting on October 7, 2007. David Schecher has been selected to direct the 40-member ensemble for their 2007-2008 subscription series performed at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Mr. Schecher has music degrees from Ithaca College and the State University at Stony Brook. As trombonist, he has performed with the Nassau Symphony, New Orchestra of Long Island and for over 26 years, with the Atlantic Wind Symphony. Mr. Schecher is the band director at Bayport High School and is Dean of Students and Director of the Senior Band at the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts.
